“Where Fiction Meets History: Gideon’s Revolution and the Treason of Benedict Arnold.”  Brian Carso, author of Gideon’s Revolution, in conversation with Joseph Curran.

The renowned historical novelist Hilary Mantel wrote, “If we want to imagine not just how the past was, but what it felt like, from the inside—we pick up a novel.”  Brian Carso will talk about the uses of fiction to illuminate history, in conversation with Joseph Curran, a professor of ethics at Misericordia University.  They will also explore the treason of Benedict Arnold, and the profound human tensions between loyalty and betrayal, allegiance and treason, revenge and the possibility of forgiveness.

“In an exquisite scenic enclave only a stone’s throw from New York, Milford’s increasingly popular Readers and Writers Festival has become one of America’s most stimulating literary venues–for first-rank authors, would-be authors, and the reading public.”  -John Berendt, author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
